Outdoor Recreation
Adjacent to Eagles Nest is McDowell Mountain Regional Park, a 21,099-acre park that offers wilderness and hiking, picnic areas, trails, and miles of mountain biking terrain. Saguaro Lake Recreation Area is an easy 20-minute drive from Eagles Nest. The area offers fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, camping, picnicking, a full-service marina and lakeshore restaurant. Tubing, kayaking and canoeing are popular summertime activities along the Salt River Recreation Area, about 25 minutes from Eagles Nest. The river is a favorite among local anglers and fly fishermen.
Superstition Mountain Regional Park is an easy and beautiful 30-minute drive east. The Usury Mountain Recreation Area and Wind Cave are even closer, via the Beeline and Bush highways. For serious four-wheel drive enthusiasts, a well-maintained trail leads all the way to the summit of Four Peaks. Professional tours to the top of Four Peaks are also available.
