Outdoor Recreation

Adjacent to Eagles Nest is McDowell Mountain Regional Park, a 21,099-acre park that offers wilderness and hiking, picnic areas, trails, and miles of mountain biking terrain. Saguaro Lake Recreation Area is an easy 20-minute drive from Eagles Nest. The area offers fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, camping, picnicking, a full-service marina and lakeshore restaurant. Tubing, kayaking and canoeing are popular summertime activities along the Salt River Recreation Area, about 25 minutes from Eagles Nest. The river is a favorite among local anglers and fly fishermen. Superstition Mountain Regional Park is an easy and beautiful 30-minute drive east. The Usury Mountain Recreation Area and Wind Cave are even closer, via the Beeline and Bush highways. For serious four-wheel drive enthusiasts, a well-maintained trail leads all the way to the summit of Four Peaks. Professional tours to the top of Four Peaks are also available.

Desert Canyon Golf Club (formerly Fountain Hills Golf Club) is a lovely, expansive, 18-hole course that offers fairways on both hilly and flat terrain, weaving around beautiful homes with splendid mountain views at almost every turn.
